CMI celebrates 10 years of ministry in South Africa!
“What is needed before [CMI] would consider opening a new work in a foreign country?” This inquiry, articulated in an email from South Africa, set into motion a number of things, including an initial visit to CMI-Australia which eventually led to the founding of a fully functional office in Cape Town in June 2002.
Like Susan, most of you are aware of CMI’s goal to support the Church in fulfilling the great commission—and to help bring reformation by restoring the foundations of the Christian faith contained in the book of Genesis. In order to do this effectively, the ministry ‘links’ with believers through the Creation magazine, books, DVDs, newsletters and INFObytes, and a dynamically changing website with more than 8,500 fully-searchable free articles. Together with these quality resources, the 2009 year-of-Darwin documentary The Voyage That Shook the World as well as the recently launched Question Evolution! campaign are finely-honed tools in the ongoing battle against the evolutionary indoctrination so prevalent in society today.

A vital part of the ministry is the presentation of talks in Christian churches. These are essentially motivational and geared towards ‘arming and equipping’ believers to ‘uphold the authority and accuracy of the Bible from the very first verse.’ We thank the Lord that since the inception of CMI-SA, close to 100,000 people were reached with the Genesis/Gospel message at more than 1,000 events during 57 ministry tours conducted across the country. Nine international CMI speakers were hosted (some more than once) during twelve of those tours.
It is a great blessing and joy to receive feedback from folk about how their lives (and that of family and friends) have been impacted by a message in a local church, Bible seminary, or school.
July S. told us how her husband has been battling with creation/evolution since she committed her life to Christ. She prayed for him for many years but “because of unanswered questions about this issue he has felt that he cannot make a commitment to accept Jesus into his life.” They attended a CMI presentation at a church and “because of the lecture the chains have been broken, my husband is … defending the Bible and he is now being gently ushered into The Kingdom … I know that it is only a matter of time until one more lost sheep joins the rest of the flock.’” She gave God the glory for “using one of His humble servants in getting the facts of the Bible across as something other than just fairytales.”
Students at a local theological college felt that “the angle at which the message was presented was refreshing. The presentation did not counteract science as a field, but established a biblical base as a reference.”
And finally, Neal B. thanked us for the talk at their school. “The kids and staff members really enjoyed it and it indeed generated much thought. I sincerely hope that many students were reached and hopefully many more will come to know our wonderful Heavenly Father!”
These are but a small sample of excerpts from numerous testimonies received over the years. Going into the second decade of ministry, we trust that, by His grace, CMI here and abroad will continue to grow from strength to strength, reaching many more people with a vitally important message for our time—the relevance of Genesis to the Gospel.
